As parents to two children, we understand the responsibility of managing our own nutrition and our children’s which is why we wanted to make it easier for other parents out there and created ‘Food Fit for the Family’.

This for us is one of our favourite quotes because to us it sums up the very need for a perspective shift in how we view the cost of food and how we value our health. 

It’s a perspective to say “eating healthy is expensive” but it’s a perspective shift to change the question and ask “why is unhealthy food so cheap?”

Yes healthier food is more expensive but this is for a REASON. Good, nutritious foods shouldn’t be cheap; the price should be reflective of the quality of the food, but at the same time healthy eating is not as expensive at it is often thought to be.  

We deem healthy food to be expensive but don’t bat an eye lid over the cost of takeaways and alcohol that can amount to hundreds of € each and every week. 

It was this exact perspective shift that changed our entire thought process on food. And now we’d encourage you to do the same. 

Look we get it, yes it’s easy to opt for the unhealthy option but  let us ask you one more question:

“What price tag would you put on your own health?”

Because the sad truth is that it is only until we experience ill health do we appreciate good health. 

And here’s the second truth: if we were to tell you that those burger and fries would kill you tomorrow, you wouldn’t touch it. But yet because it’s a slow burner, we don’t give it a second thought.

Unhealthy food may not cause instantaneous ill health but it surely does cause death by a thousand cuts.
